Surprising Ways to Burn Calories This Summer

Break out of the gym rut and venture outdoors this summer to burn calories while you enjoy the scenery.

Why exercise indoors during summers when there are so many fun activities you can do outside and enjoy the scenery as well. Learn what all you can do this summers to stay in shape.

Mountain Biking
As a workout, it takes a lot of energy to climb up mountain trails ,But it’s good interval training, and you get a great payoff on the way back down. Interval training alternates short bursts of intense activity with stretches of lighter activity, and it can really boost your calorie burning power.  Mountain biking helps develop reaction skills that you can't learn on a gym machine. Reacting to real terrain gives you a better core workout than just programming a machine to simulate hills. If you are a professional you will burn a lot more but even novices can take to the hills on beginner trails and still burn as many as 400 calories in 30 minutes.

Trail Running
Skip the simulated version at the gym and hit some real trails. Like mountain biking, trail running builds reaction skills. You end up needing to push yourself harder when climbing on trails, And that burns more calories. You can burn up to 400 calories in half an hour of trail running.

Hiking
Ditch the indoor track and take the scenic route. Hiking offers many of the same benefits as trail running, without the impact. It’s an especially good lower-body and cardio workout for people who need to go easy on their knees and other joints. Plus, it’s fun to do with friends and family. Many state parks offer hiking trails for varying fitness levels. By cross-country hiking at a moderate pace, you can burn around 200 calories.

More Outdoor Calorie-Burning Fun

In addition to the above mentioned activities there are a lot more . Experiment with these different options and find out what works best for you . Remember exercise should not be a burden for you, if you do what you enjoy the best it will be so much fun.

5 Stealth Skin Agers

Skin Agers

Do you look older than you should ? You know that you shouldn't bake your skin at the beach, and you wouldn't dream of picking up a cigarette for many reasons, but there are under-the-radar habits that might be damaging your skin. Do you have any of these habits ? Read further to identify

Indulging a Sweet Tooth

If you fill up too often on foods that are loaded with sugar, or foods that are high on the glycemic index, like white bread and pasta, you may eventually find that your skin looks older than it should.
What exactly does sugar do to the skin? After you indulge in a sweet treat, sugar breaks down into glucose, which eats away at collagen and elastin, the structural proteins that make up the skin. This process, called glycation, causes collagen to harden over time, and this, in turn, makes your skin less supple and its texture worse.

Taking Window Seats

Even if you're vigilant about applying SPF in the morning, you can still suffer damaging sun exposure if you sit near a window at the office, or if you spend a significant amount of time commuting in a car. To avoid the stealth sun exposure, keep a small bottle of sunscreen in your desk drawer in the office if you work near a window, or in your glove compartment if you commute by car, and reapply it every two hours.

Stressing Out

Stress can play a big role in making you look older. When you're stressed, your body pumps up the production of cortisol, a stress hormone, which in turn increases the levels of matrix metalloproteinases, enzymes that then break down collagen and elastin.
In addition, stress can cause you to frown or squint, and over time, these expression lines can become more pronounced on the face. You should try to find out ways to relax you. Some people are relaxed with music, swimming helps a few and yoga works for most people. Taking a vacation whenever possible can also prove to be helpful to relieve stress.

Skipping Sleep

Not getting enough sleep can make you look older. Sleep is when your body repairs, heals, and regenerates itself, and if you take that away, you slow this process and the skin reflects it — this is the direct effect. If you cant take proper sleep during night then try to take naps during day time whenever possible.

Overdoing Anti-Aging Products

Sometimes over usage of anti-aging products such as retinol can be excessively drying for the skin which in turn will make wrinkles more prominent. If you are using any such ingredients its better to use them temporarily only and while you are on those keep a very strict moisturizing routine. Hydrate skin with products that contain vitamin E and glycerin. These ingredients help plump up the skin, making any wrinkles and fine lines less pronounced.

There are the 7 deadly universal sins that people often commit without realizing but it does horrible things to your hair and scalp.
Sin#1: Probably the most unforgivable:

OVER WASHING HAIR
With summer hitting us with the high tide we tend to run into the shower more then once a day if not once daily. A lot of us with greasy hair feel the need to wash our hair daily some even wash their hair multiple times a day. However this is one of the worst things you can do as this strips the hair of natural oils. Hair often becomes greasy when the scalp produces too much sebum, so when you wash your hair you actually stimulate the sebum glands making them produce more oil. In turn making your hair greasier.
Solution: Its time you introduce yourself to a dry shampoo.

SIN#2
RUBBING YOUR HAIR WITH A TOWEL
If you are not supposed to rub your skin, you are not supposed to rub your hair also.
Rubbing the hair shaft with a towel disrupts the hair cuticle, damaging hair. Which in turn creates frizz and makes hair less manageable.
Solution: Use your towel to wrap around the hair, then press lightly with the towel to help soak up as much water as possible.

SIN#3
OVER CONDITIONING YOUR HAIR
NO you don't need to condition your hair every time you shampoo, maybe just twice a week or so, and NO you also don't need to condition your scalp. Conditioner should only be used on the mid sections and ends of the hair where the scalps natural oils don't reach. If you condition the roots which are already coated with natural oils, will cause limp, lifeless hair.

Sin#4
BRUSHING WET HAIR
Wet hair is the weakest. Brushing dry hair already causes alot of breakage and damages hair but brushing wet hair is even worse. It pulls them from the root making them weak and they break.
Solution: Wait for them to dry OR  if you have to
Use a wide tooth comb to eliminate tangles on wet hair as the teeth are widely spaced and glide easier through hair, causing much less damage.

SIN#5
APPLYING HAIR PRODUCTS TO SUPER WET HAIR
We have all done it when we are in a rush, so we try to speed up getting ready by applying moose or leave in conditioner on our freshly washed hair straight after stepping out the shower. However doing this you're wasting product. Wet hair isn't as porous so your products just slip off the strands rather attach to the hair shaft.
Solution :Apply your products to damp hair to make the most of your products.

SIN#6
NOT LEAVING YOUR CONDITIONER LONG ENOUGH
Another conditioner crime! No matter how much you have spent on a product you wont get the most of the product if you wash it straight out. To make the most of a conditioner, you need to let the conditioner penetrate the hair.
Solution: After applying conditioner leave it on for a few minutes before washing off. This will give the time to let the conditioner go to work.

SIN#7
IGNORING THOSE SPLIT ENDS
Ignoring split ends is a sin most of us are guilty of at some point. As much as I wish there was a miracle treatment to repair split ends. Remedies and treatments may make them look better or at best temporarily seal them together. The only way to get rid of split ends is to have them cut off.
Solution: Get regular trims.
