It is a common
concern for the women of today. When should they actually start with an
anti-aging routine? Also what steps do I need to follow (considering anti-aging
routine can be different varying from individual to individual?)
Generally there is
no fixed rule as to when you should start, but if you are in your mid-20s, most
dermatologists agree on this that you should start with anti aging
products.
The anti aging products for a
25 year old and a 40 year old will be different. For the 25 year old it’s not
necessary that the creams being used are actually labeled anti-aging. A simple
night time serum/ moisturizer would do as well.
The oily skin type
people are lucky in this regard. Therefore if you have oily skin you probably
have a longer time on hand before you start with a routine. For dry skin types
it’s safe to say 23 is the right age for you to start with anti aging.
Besides using anti
aging products what can you do to prevent aging naturally? Here are some
guidelines you can follow
Drink lots of juices
Fruits are packed
with vitamins/ anti-oxidants. If your daily diet includes juices you can
prevent aging and generally have a fresh complexion. It is best that you drink
fresh juices (not the packaged kind). But if you really need to buy from the
super market check the label for 100% natural.
Drink Green tea
Green tea is
another drink full of anti-oxidants. There are plenty of other health benefits
associated with green tea as well, such as prevention of cancer, weight loss,
better metabolism etc. It is safe to say Green tea is the healthiest form of
tea.
Be happy
The physical damage caused to your body by
stress has only recently become appreciated by the scientific community. Fill
your life with things you love and get rid of almost everything else. Practice
stress relieving activities like meditation and exercise, and learn to
appreciate joy when you find it. Happiness does a body good.
Avoid sugar
Sugar is a direct
cause of aging and significantly reduces lifespan in organisms from yeast to
primates. Not by a small amount either.
Wear sunscreen
Never walk out the
door without sunscreen on your face. UV radiation from the sun damages your
skin and promotes aging.
Don’t
smoke
Smoking is one of the easiest ways to look
older than you really are and shorten your life at the same time.
Take vitamin D
Some research
suggests that vitamin D may be particularly important in slowing the aging
process. The jury is still out on the value of vitamin D supplements for aging,
but they seem to have enough other benefits that it’s worth the investment.
Eat
beans and lentils
Legumes are a
fabulous source of minerals that can help keep your skin hydrated and looking
young.
Eat nuts
Nuts are the
perfect snack food and are filled with anti-aging fats, vitamins and minerals.
They are also great for suppressing appetite–just don’t eat more than a
handful.
Conclusion
When it comes to anti-aging or any other skin related issue
for that matter, prevention is always better than cure. Once aging starts you
can’t really reverse the process but you can definitely take measures to slow
it down.
